The Purpose of Pubic Hair

Did you know that 84% of women reported a lifetime history of pubic hair grooming? Pubic hair acts as a natural barrier to the skin, allowing our intimate areas to breathe. When we wax/shave/laser our pubic hair, we’re removing the space which the hair creates to allow air to flow through freely. This can cause irritation in the intimate area.

Other factors which can cause irritation include SAPs, which are super absorbent polymers, a synthetic material in conventional pads to absorb period blood. SAPs can be good for holding period blood; however, they can cause dryness and irritation in our intimate areas. Conventional pads are made predominately from plastic, which can make our intimate areas sweat more, especially during sport.

A lot of our underwear is now made from man made fabrics, such as nylon and polyester which also doesn’t allow air to pass through. This creates an over-humid micro-climate on the skin which encourages growth of bacteria causing itching, which can lead to redness, burning and swelling.

Clinically proven is a claim often made by pharmaceutical and medical brands, until Organyc, no brands in the feminine care category had ever conducted such in-depth testing. The reasons were simple, most brands make basic claims about product features or marketing ideas like “Made for women by women”, neither approaches require much evidence nor promise the consumer much.

In 2016, Organyc brand consumer research revealed that up to ¾ of women were concerned about sensitive skin. As a result, a global teaching hospital at the University of Pavia, where notably both Albert Einstein and Leonardo da Vinci performed scientific work, was commissioned to conduct a clinical study to understand if Organyc could be the solution of this widespread concern.

Organyc 100% certified organic cotton pads were clinically compared to a leading global brand constructed of traditional man-made materials. 200 women aged 20-40 years of age who suffered from irritation caused by conventional brands were clinically evaluated by a team of gynaecologists and clinicians between October 2017 and February 2018. The women were evaluated over three menstrual cycles. 100 women used a leading global brand of traditional pads and the other 100 used Organyc brand 100% certified organic cotton pads.

This study demonstrated conclusively at the 95% confidence level that the Organyc brand resolves and prevented redness, itching, irritation, swelling, burning, and dryness. The traditional synthetic pads did not. The study was considered of such value, it was immediately chosen for publication in a top European medical journal Minerva Ginecologica in October 2018. This clinical testing provides science-based evidence that Organyc brand pads are clinically proven and clearly demonstrates the brands commitment to giving women, their bodies, and their intelligence the respect they deserve.

Organyc found a solution to the cause of intimate irritation by replacing all synthetic materials with 100% certified organic cotton. This excellent high-quality material is soft on the skin, comfortable to wear, hypoallergenic, breathable, and absorbent by nature.
